Doug Selzer Named Sales Leader of Lakewood | Lake Highlands Office


Doug Selzer has been named Sales Leader of Ebby Halliday Realtors’ Lakewood | Lake Highlands Office. Chris Kelly, president and chief executive officer of the Ebby Halliday Companies, and Malinda Howell, vice president of brokerage, recently made the announcement.

A member of the Ebby Halliday family since 2012, Selzer has served as an agent in the office he will be overseeing. He is an active member of the East Dallas community, has served as the East Dallas MLS Representative for MetroTex Association of Realtors and serves as both a mentor in the Ebby Lakewood | Lake Highlands office as well as an instructor for the Ebby EDGE (Education/Discipline/Growth/Excellence) orientation program. 

“Doug has earned a reputation not only as a top producer along with his wife Elizabeth, but someone that lives our People First mission in the way he treats his clients and other agents,” Kelly says. Adds Howell, “As a Dallas native and Lake Highlands resident, Doug has already invested so much of himself in the area. He will help ensure this office remains a vital real estate resource to the surrounding residents.”

Selzer succeeds Rene Barrera, a respected industry veteran who recently took the helm at Ebby’s 190 – Richardson Office after Malinda Howell stepped aside to focus solely on her role as vice president of brokerage of the Ebby Halliday Companies. 

Prior to real estate, Selzer had an extensive background in senior management and leadership within the banking and financial services sectors. This position, he feels, is a natural extension of his career path.

“I have a long history of sales, customer service and management,” he says. “The best part of every role has been helping people – whether it is helping a client buy or sell a house, or helping a new agent be successful in their real estate career.” 

Asked what he will bring to his new role, Selzer replies, “I am a collaborator. I want to work with new and experienced agents alike to share ideas – processes and procedures – that will make everyone better. I also see our office as a resource for the community. Of course, we want to help people buy or sell a house, but I also see us as being a go-to source of real estate information for those who live and work in the area.”

Selzer is a Certified Negotiation Expert and a Historic Home Specialist, in addition to a ‘D Best’ Real Estate Agent since 2018 and an Advocate ‘Top 25 Realtor’ since 2015. He is a graduate of Hampden-Sydney College with a degree in Economics and is married to Lakewood | Lake Highlands agent Elizabeth Selzer. They have two sons. Doug enjoys fishing, cooking and relaxing with friends.

Barrera New Lakewood/Lake Highlands Sales Manager


René Barrera New Lakewood/Lake Highlands Sales Manager

 

Ebby Halliday Realtors has appointed René Barrera sales manager of its Lakewood/Lake Highlands Office. Mary Frances Burleson, president and chief executive officer, recently made the announcement.

 

“René brings extensive industry knowledge, as well as a strong desire to assist our Lakewood/Lake Highlands agents in taking their careers to the next level,” Burleson says. “A recipient of the MetroTex Association of Realtors Lois Hair Bernays Salesperson of the Year Award and Ebby Halliday’s Service to the Industry Award, René offers extensive real estate expertise and a long history of service to our industry and the East Dallas community.”

 

Barrera will report to Betty Misko, executive vice president and director of sales offices.

 

“Deeply rooted in East Dallas, René is passionate about serving clients as a fiduciary and helping make the American dream of homeownership a reality,” Misko says. “I am confident his background and sales experience will benefit the Lakewood/Lake Highlands Office in many ways.”

 

A native of South Texas and a graduate of Texas A&M International University, Barrera has lived in East Dallas since 2000 and been involved in real estate sales and community service in the area for approximately 15 years.

 

“I love the work I do and I love East Dallas,” says Barrera. “Our community is so rooted in family and tradition.”

 

A multimillion-dollar producer who holds a Broker’s License as well as numerous professional designations, Barrera is a past president and active member of the Kiwanis Club of White Rock. He is also active in the Knights of Columbus and his children’s school.

 

An enthusiastic, natural leader who is a graduate of the MetroTex Leadership Academy, Barrera says he is dedicated to supporting the Lakewood/Lake Highlands Office’s agents by sharing his extensive knowledge of negotiations and contracts and helping them build a business that is client-centric.

 

“I am a strong believer in creating synergy in the office,” Barrera says. “Agents can pick up the phone and I will help them. Being available to our agents, our clients and our community is my priority.”

 

Barrera says among the many reasons he chose Ebby Halliday is the company’s appreciation for both new-agent education and continuing education for seasoned agents. “Ebby has always been a leader in the real estate industry and in East Dallas,” he adds. “Its technology and training are second to none.”

 

In his spare time, Barrera enjoys an active outdoors lifestyle. He has run multiple marathons, and loves to train, whether it’s for marathons, triathlons or bike races. He can often be found speeding around White Rock Lake on his bike. Barrera also enjoys restoring his classic ’65 Plymouth Valiant. René’s family includes his wife of 13 years, Julie, and two children, Bianca, age 8, and Isaac, age 6.
