It’s the first day of spring, and if you haven’t done so already, now is definitely the time to give your yard the respect it deserves. As homeowners everywhere know, nothing can bring you down from the weather high that March brings quite like a backyard that’s still caught in winter.
In the brand-new spring 2015 edition of Grand Vie: Luxury in Living magazine, the only luxury-home publication to bring you the very best of Dallas and Fort Worth, we chatted with two renowned local landscape architects, Harold Leidner and Angelynn Harvey, about their top tips for getting your yard ready for the season.
Grand Vie: Yard trends change just like home décor trends. What’s a new fad you are seeing in residential yards this year?
Harold Leidner: A more modern style and feel. We have always loved a more modern style, but clients traditionally are more reserved in the style of homes they build, which often dictates the surrounding gardens. Thankfully, more modern architecture in the market means our clients are receptive to a cleaner and more sophisticated design style.
GV: What is the most extreme thing a client has asked you to do?
HL: We had a great client who asked us to create a movie projection water screen as a part of his pool design. This way he could sit in his pool and watch a movie projected on a sheet of water. It started as a wild idea but we turned it into reality. The result was amazing.
