Ebby Halliday Elementary Starts the School Year Strong

Agents of Ebby Halliday Companies Deliver Backpacks, School Supplies for Every Student at DISD’s Ebby Halliday Elementary

The Ebby Halliday Companies is built on a foundation of generosity, extending back to the days when Ebby Halliday herself was running the iconic residential real estate brand. Now a new generation of agents have readily adopted her personal mantra, “Do Something for Someone Every Day,” and are living it out in a variety of ways.

A most recent example is the Back-to-School Backpack Drive initiated by the company’s Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Council. Agents were given school supply lists for Ebby Halliday Elementary School in southeast Dallas, and asked to provide.

The company’s more than 30 offices quickly responded and within a week, hundreds of backpacks filled with notebooks, pencils and more, were being delivered to the school – in plenty of time for Meet the Teacher night on August 12.

CEO & President Chris Kelly was quite pleased by the effort.

“Given what we’ve asked the children in our communities to endure and overcome these past 18 months,” said Kelly, “helping get their school year off on the right note is the least we can do to contribute towards their success. I am incredibly proud of how the entirety of the Ebby Halliday Companies rallied around the challenge issued by our Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Council.”

Sylvia Sotelo Kidd and Pamela Young are EHC’s Diversity, Equity & Inclusion officers as well as sales leaders with Ebby Halliday’s offices in Rockwall and Forney, and Southwest Dallas, respectively.

“The Council’s goal was to gather 650 backpacks and we beat that by three!” said Kidd. ”We also have additional supplies for almost 100 more students.”

“Our mission with community outreach efforts like this is twofold,” Kidd continued. “We want to encourage both internal growth among our agents, staff and executives, and growth among our own community members. We want to ensure they have the opportunity to bridge generational wealth gaps. This mindset can start as early as Kindergarten.”

Added Young, “In addition to this, committee members have already identified a few key areas in North Texas where we plan to hold educational seminars regarding credit and lending, and host other beneficial programs. The potential to own a home should be for everyone.”

Ebby Halliday Elementary opened in August 2011 as part of a 2008 DISD bond package. The two-story, environmentally-friendly school is set in a rural-like area called Rylie where manufactured homes and horses are a common sight. Just behind the school, bulldozers prepare lots for a large single-family housing development, perhaps a sign of hope for community members that owning a home can be for them, too.

Expansion Continues With Opening of Forney Office

The Ebby Halliday Companies have opened a new office in Forney. The office, located at 101 E. U.S. Highway 80, will serve fast-growing Kaufman County and the surrounding area.

“Near the prominent corner of Highway 80 and Pinson Road, our Forney office, like all Ebby offices, will feature the latest in technology and offer home buyers and sellers one convenient residential real estate experience, including brokerage, mortgage, insurance and title services,” says Ebby Halliday Companies President & CEO Chris Kelly.

Adds Vice President of Brokerage Malinda Howell, “While many companies have contracted during the COVID-19 era, we are proud to continue our significant expansion across North Texas.”

In addition to opening its new Forney office, the Ebby Halliday Companies recently opened a new Cedar Hill office and are currently building a new Prosper location.

Ebby’s new Forney office is ideally located between the company’s two Rockwall offices and its Cedar Creek Lake Office, Kelly says.

“Strategically located along U.S. Highway 80, our Forney office offers a superior location and is a statement of our commitment to serving this increasingly popular, fast-growing area for many years to come,” says Sylvia Sotelo Kidd, Co-Sales Leader of the new office and Sales Leader of Ebby’s Rockwall offices. The Forney office will also be led by Natalie Jackson Thomas, sales leader of Ebby’s Cedar Creek Lake Office.

“With success comes growth,” says Thomas. “We are assisting clients with one of the most-expensive and important transactions of their lifetime and it is vital that we utilize all of the resources that we can to best serve their needs. We are thrilled to now be able to do that from an exceptional, high-visibility Forney location. Whether you’re considering buying or selling a home or other property, we’re here to serve you.”

Ebby’s new Forney office will offer area residents, those who may be considering calling the area their new home, and top-producing agents an opportunity to be a part of something special. The office is designed to continue to grow along with Forney and the surrounding area and to accommodate the growing number of agents who proudly serve the area.

Says Sotelo Kidd, “We are actively seeking agents to join our new Forney Office. Natalie and I love to see others succeed, and we’re excited about this opportunity to use our enthusiasm and sales skills to ‘sell’ Ebby as a company. Agents have choices and they can’t choose a better company than Ebby Halliday. Looking to make a move? Contact us today.”

Ebby Halliday Companies Join CEO Action for Diversity & Inclusion

In 2019, the Ebby Halliday Companies joined a growing coalition of CEOs pledging to advance diversity and inclusion in the workplace. President & CEO Chris Kelly is among the more than 1,000 CEOs who have come together for CEO Action for Diversity & Inclusion, committing himself and the Ebby Halliday Companies to advance diversity and inclusion in the workplace.

“By signing on to this commitment, the Ebby Halliday Companies pledged to take action to cultivate a workplace where diverse perspectives and experiences are welcomed and respected, and where employees feel encouraged to discuss diversity and inclusion,” Kelly says.

The Ebby Halliday Companies also appointed longtime leaders within the company Sylvia Sotelo Kidd and Pamela Young Diversity & Inclusion Officers. Since their appointments they have worked diligently to diversify recruitment and ensure that the Ebby Halliday Companies’ offerings reach the widest and most-inclusive group of homeowners and buyers.

Organizations joining the CEO Action for Diversity & Inclusion pledge have taken a step toward effecting positive change, exchanging tangible learning opportunities, creating collaborative conversations and fostering innovation.

“Diversity and inclusion are vital to the improvement of our work culture, the future of our business and industry, as well as the future of the region we are privileged to call home,” says Kelly. “As the market leader in North Texas, it is our responsibility to take action.”

Kelly says that the Ebby Halliday Companies have recognized that the Southern Sector of Dallas County is underserved by residential real estate brokerages and affiliated services, such as mortgage, insurance and title, and they are actively working to expand their presence in the Southern Sector, including the construction of a new office in Cedar Hill.

“As we expand our Southern Sector presence, we will increase homeownership opportunities and provide expert representation for the area’s buyers and sellers,” says Kelly. “As part of this commitment, we are dedicated to expanding the diversity of our employees and sales force.”

In addition, the Ebby Halliday Companies – which includes three brokerage brands, as well as in-house mortgage, insurance and title brands – recognized the need to hire loan officers from diverse backgrounds and ethnicities in order to best serve North Texas’ increasingly diverse population. Recruiting, hiring and retaining loan officers to better serve the entire North Texas community is one of the company’s stated goals.

“It is a priority for us to provide our clients loan officers that they enjoy working with and who serve their home-buying and selling needs by providing a variety of loan products appropriate to their needs,” says Kelly. “This is an important initiative for us in 2020 and moving forward into the future.”
