Big Tex is turning 70 and in honor of our favorite cowboy’s platinum birthday, we’ve rounded up a comprehensive list of discount opportunities so you can save on admission, games, rides and food – which could mean more corn dogs! Check out the list below to see the many ways Fair Fans can save BIG this year!

BIG TEX INSIDER PROMO CODES – Sign up to become a Big Tex Insider and receive exclusive State Fair ticket and merchandise discounts and promo codes straight to your email inbox. Each Monday during the Fair, a special promo code will be released that provides Big Tex Insiders special access to $10 tickets good for Tuesdays and Thursdays.

SEASON PASSES – Trying to get the full State Fair experience can be quite hard to do in one day. With the season pass, however, you can enjoy a full 24 days of admission.

GROUP TICKETS – When purchased in advance, groups of 25 or more can attend the State Fair at discounted prices. Don’t forget to preload Midway game cards and food and ride coupons to any group ticket order.

MILITARY APPRECIATION DAY IS EVERY DAY – All active military, retired military, and veterans save $5 off on weekdays and $7 off on weekends when they present valid documentation of military service at the gate or online. Spouses of service men and women with a valid Military Spouse ID and accompanying children under the age of 18 also receive discounted admission. For information on how to obtain your Military ID Card before your visit to the Fair, contact your military branch or go to www.cac.mil.

FIRST RESPONDERS DAY IS EVERY DAY – All first responders can save $5 off on weekdays and $7 off on weekends when they present a valid badge or ID card from their department or organization at the gate or online, plus up to three discounted admission tickets for their family members. 

KROGER – Purchase in advance at your local Kroger and get $3 off premium one-day admission tickets.

MCDONALD’S – Discount coupons can be found at any participating McDonald’s locations in the North Texas area. Present these coupons at the fair gates to save $5 off general admission tickets on weekdays and $7 off on weekends. One coupon per person. McDonald’s discounts may not be combined with any other offers. 

AFTER 5 P.M. – No matter your age, all guests pay the child price after 5 p.m. any day of the week. Available at the gate and online.

NORTH TEXAS FOOD BANK OPENING DAY – On opening day, bring two jars of peanut butter for the North Texas Food Bank and enjoy a discounted admission price of $10 at the gate. 

DR PEPPER VALUE DAYS – Dr Pepper Value Days are every Tuesday and Thursday and $10 tickets can only be purchased online. Only Big Tex Insiders receive the promotion code for this exclusive savings so be sure to sign up now at BigTex.com/Insider. 

THRILLING TUESDAYS – Most rides are offered at a reduced price on Tuesdays.

NORTH TEXAS FOOD BANK, FEED THE NEED WEDNESDAYS – By bringing five canned food items, fairgoers will receive admission for only $5. All canned donations go to the North Texas Food Bank, which helps feed members of the community. $5 admission tickets can only be purchased at the gate on Wednesdays with a canned-food donation.  

THRIFTY THURSDAY FOOD SPECIALS – Thursdays are the best day of the week for foodies, thrifty families, or anyone who can’t get enough fair food! Featured items include State Fair classics like corn dogs, cotton candy and funnel cakes. Participating food vendors also offer one of their signature menu items at a reduced price, ranging from mini versions to regular-size items.

SENIOR DAYS – Every Thursday, anyone age 60 and older gets into the Fair for only $5. $5 admission tickets can only be purchased at the gate on Thursdays. Seniors must present ID to receive the discount.

The State Fair of Texas kicks off this weekend! For those planning a trip (or a few trips), these money-saving opportunities are available Friday, September 27 to Sunday, October 20.

 

State Fair Savings

Online Tickets
Save time and money by purchasing tickets online. Online tickets are $1.50 less than tickets purchased in person.

Season Passes
Going to the State Fair of Texas for one day is definitely not enough time to get the full experience. Get a season pass, enjoy all the attractions and save money. Season passes are now available for $45, which includes 24-day admission and a variety of special VIP benefits.

Discounted Group Tickets
Going to the fair with a group of friends or coworkers? Well you’re in luck! Groups as small as 20 can get through the gates for as low as $10 per person (a savings of more than 55%).

 

Any Day Discounts

Dart GoPass
Through the Dart GoPass app, you can buy discounted tickets to the State Fair of Texas. General admission tickets are $16, while child and senior tickets are $12.

Kroger
Get your tickets in advance at your local Kroger. General admission is $16.50 and season passes are $39.95. Tickets can be purchased at the checkout counter or service desk up until October 20, 2019.

Dr Pepper
Bring an empty Dr Pepper can to the State Fair gates after 5 p.m. any day of the week and get general admission for half price.

McDonald’s
Discount coupons are available at participating McDonald’s locations throughout North Texas. Bring your coupon to the State Fair gate any day and save $5 off general admission or half off a children’s ticket (with purchase of general admission).

Military Appreciation Day
All active military, retired military, and veterans receive free admission when they present valid documentation of military service. Spouses of service men and women with a valid Military Spouse ID, as well as children under the age of 18, also receive free admission.

Dasani

Friday, October 11

First Responders Day
All first responders, including active and retired public law enforcement, firefighters, paramedics and other emergency service agencies, will receive free admission when they present a valid badge or ID from their department or organization. In addition, up to three admission tickets will be available for their family members.

Savvy Savings for the State Fair of Texas

The countdown to the State Fair of Texas has begun! For those planning to go, below are great money-saving opportunities you can take advantage of from Sept. 29 – Oct. 22. Just think of all the extra mouth-watering treats you can indulge in after your savings!

 

Advance Tickets

Buying in advance (and printing yourself) will save you a couple of bucks on general admission. You can also purchase tickets through the DART GoPass app, which will save you $2 on every ticket, any day and allows you to access them right from your phone. Lastly, add tickets to your Kroger shopping list: $16.50 for general admission.

 

Big Tex Insider

Sign up to become a Big Tex Insider and get the latest ticket discounts delivered right to your inbox as they’re announced. Insiders also receive first access to pre-sales, information on every show and attraction at the 2017 State Fair of Texas, discounted merchandise from the Big Tex store, and a happy birthday message from Big Tex on your birthday!

 

Coca-Cola $7 Thursdays

Bring an empty 20 oz. bottle of any Coca-Cola product on any Thursday during the Fair (Oct. 5, 12 and 19) and enter the Fair for only $7.

 

Dr Pepper $6 Tuesdays

Don’t throw away those empty Dr Pepper cans! Bring one in on any Tuesday during the Fair (Oct. 3, 10 and 17) and pay only $6 for general admission.

 

Dr Pepper Half Price After 5 p.m.

Bring an empty Dr Pepper can after 5 p.m. each day and admission is half price!

 

Free Attractions

Listen to the various free concerts scattered throughout the grounds, catch one (or more) of the daily shows, visit the auto show, and always stay for the Starlight Parade. Sticking to these attractions will keep a few extra bucks in your pocket. For a complete schedule of events, click here.

 

First Responders Day

Group Tickets

For groups of 20 or more, the Fair has a deal for you. The Fair can get your group through the gates for as low as $12/person, saving you 33 percent overall.

 

106.1 KISS-FM Fridays

Visit the radio station’s website on Fridays to download a coupon for $5 off general admission.  You can’t get this deal at the gate, so remember to download and print before you go.

McDonald’s

When you’re done eating those tasty nuggets, be sure to grab the coupons from your tray liner or to-go bag. They’ll save you $5 on general admission or half the price of a kid’s admission on any day.

 

North Texas Food Bank Wednesdays

Bring in four cans of food for donation on any Wednesday during the Fair (Oct. 4, 11 and 18) and enter the Fair for only $4.

 

Opening Day

Bring a sealed 20 oz. bottle of Dasani water or any other Coca-Cola product to the gate on opening day (Sept. 29) and snag half-price tickets. Donated products benefit the North Texas Food Bank.

 

School Tickets

Chances are your kid(s) will be given a free Fair ticket from whichever North Texas school they attend. Take the opportunity to treat them. Or, save them for another day.

 

Season Passes

Who doesn’t go to the Fair multiple times? For around $40, the season pass will grant you access every single day and includes 100 food/ride tickets. Also, all season passes come with a free bag of Fair goodies. Season passes can also be purchased at Kroger for $34.95.

 

Senior Thursdays

Senior citizens (60 years and better) receive free admission every Thursday during the Fair (Oct. 5, 12 and 19).

 

Thrifty Thursdays
