The Undisputed Leader in North Texas Real Estate

Ebby Halliday Companies No. 1 – Again

The Ebby Halliday Companies has again been named the No. 1 residential real estate brokerage in North Texas based on sales volume by the Dallas Business Journal. Comprised of Dallas-based Ebby Halliday Realtors and Dave Perry-Miller Real Estate and Fort Worth-based Williams Trew Real Estate, the Ebby Halliday Companies topped the publication’s newest annual list with $7.8 billion in 2016 sales.

In addition to topping the DBJ list by sales volume, the Ebby Halliday Companies was also No. 1 based on average sales price among the five brokerages with the most North Texas transactions and No. 1 among independent brokerages.

“Congratulations to all of the dedicated, hard-working Associates and staff members who made these phenomenal sales numbers possible,” says Mary Frances Burleson, president and CEO of the Ebby Halliday Companies. “While 2016 was truly an exceptional year, we already know that 2017 is destined to be another extraordinary year for North Texas real estate and the Ebby Halliday Companies.”

Locally owned Ebby Halliday was founded in 1945 on three principles: service to the client, service to the industry and service to the community. Having served the residential real estate needs of North Texas for 73 years, and having grown from a one-woman office to the largest independently owned residential real estate brokerage in Texas, the company has consistently maintained a focus on service to the community. In addition to supporting many North Texas charitable organizations, the Ebby Halliday Companies belong to approximately 30 local chambers of commerce, promoting the local economy.

The Ebby Halliday Companies and its sales associates possess a unique understanding of the global real estate market. This understanding is a result of the locally owned firm’s affiliation with Leading Real Estate Companies of the World, a network of premier real estate brokers in 65 countries. A founding member of LeadingRE, the Ebby Halliday Companies tap this network of 565 firms with 130,000 sales associates to expose listings to buyers across the globe.

“At the Ebby Halliday Companies, we’re proud of our undisputed position as the dominant real estate firm in North Texas,” Burleson says. “Our clients benefit from many advantages that are a direct result of the company’s status as the market-share leader.”

The Ebby Halliday Companies includes 34 offices that cover over 12,000 square miles of North Texas. A Life Well Lived – Indeed

A Life Well Lived – Indeed

Ebby Halliday, the founder of Ebby Halliday Realtors who passed away last year at 104, has been named the 5th Greatest Dallasite of All Time by D Magazine. In a city that is passionate about sports, Ebby was the top-rated non-athlete in the recently released list of 100 notable Dallasites.

D began the task of determining the greatest Dallasites of All Time by compiling a list of hundreds of nominees and sought the assistance of experts, including the Dallas Historical Society, to cull and curate. Ultimately, the magazine nominated over 300 of the city’s most intriguing and influential people. Each of the nominees has had a significant impact on the Dallas area or has lived in the Dallas area and made a notable impact on the greater world.

In Ebby’s case, her impact on her beloved Dallas and the world beyond cannot be overstated. Born Vera Lucille Koch in the small town of Leslie, Ark., in 1911, the woman who would later take the professional name “Ebby Halliday” was admired worldwide for her ability to combine leadership with femininity and business acumen. Her impact on the residential real estate industry was unmatched. Over the years, Ebby opened the doors to successful careers for thousands of people; in particular for women at a time when opportunities were limited.

Throughout her life, Ebby’s dedication to her profession and her fellow man remained constant. This dedication is clearly evidenced in the many honors she received as a result of her civic and professional endeavors. They include the Distinguished Service Award from the National Association of REALTORS® and the International Real Estate Federation, induction into the Texas Business Hall of Fame and the Dallas Business Hall of Fame, the Regional Entrepreneur of the Year Award from Ernst & Young, the YWCA’s 100 Women 100 Years award, and the Linz Award, which is presented annually to a Dallas County resident whose civic or humanitarian efforts benefit the city of Dallas. In addition, Ebby was the first recipient of Executive Women International’s Executive Excellence Award.

Ebby was a member of The Horatio Alger Association of Distinguished Americans, perhaps the crowning achievement of her legendary life. The Association bears the name of the renowned author Horatio Alger, Jr., whose tales of overcoming adversity through unyielding perseverance and basic moral principles captivated the public in the late 19th century. Dedicated to the simple but powerful belief that hard work, honesty and determination can conquer all obstacles, the Association honors the achievements of outstanding individuals who have succeeded in spite of adversity and who are committed to supporting young people in pursuit of increased opportunities through higher education.

But for Ebby, a successful life was about so much more than awards and the extraordinary sales figures of the residential real estate firm she founded in 1945. She often said her most successful sale was when she “sold” Maurice Acers on marrying her on April 18, 1965. Ebby and Maurice met in a chance encounter while both were on business trips to Beaumont, Texas. A former FBI agent and successful lawyer, Maurice was truly the love of Ebby’s life and her eyes would twinkle whenever she spoke of him.

All of us at Ebby Halliday Realtors congratulate each of the recipients of the Greatest Dallasites of All Time honor. In a city of greatness – and one that continues its steady march to international prominence – we’re prouder than ever of our firm’s deep Dallas roots and more committed than ever to honor our founder’s extraordinary legacy through exemplary service to our clients, industry and community.

Burleson Named Real Estate Executive of the Year

Burleson Named Residential Real Estate Executive of the Year

Surrounded by members from throughout the Ebby Halliday Companies, Mary Frances Burleson was honored as D CEO’s Residential Real Estate Executive of the Year this past Wednesday night at Dakota’s restaurant in downtown Dallas.

Long before she passed away at the age of 104 last September, Ebby Halliday knew who she wanted to succeed her at the helm of the company she founded in 1945. After all, Mary Frances had been by her side for more than 50 years, and has been instrumental in growing the Ebby Halliday Companies into the largest independent residential real estate firm in Texas. As President and CEO, Burleson oversees Ebby Halliday Realtors, Dave Perry-Miller Real Estate and Williams Trew Real Estate, with combined sales of $7.85 billion in 2015.

Ebby and Mary Frances proved to be quite a powerful duo. Since Ebby’s death, Mary Frances has been repositioning the Ebby Halliday Companies from a legacy company to one that’s on the leading edge of incorporating technology – especially mobile platforms.

Burleson, who is also a recipient of the National Association of Realtors’ prestigious Distinguished Service Award, says she has no intention of slowing down. “I’m not going to sit on the porch and rock,” she told D CEO magazine in an interview highlighting her storied career. “If you do, your mind and body atrophy, and I don’t have time for that.”

Congratulation to Mary Frances, who often says she is blessed to be part of the best team in residential real estate. We feel equally blessed to have her as our leader.

Is Summer a Good Time to Sell a Home in D-FW?

Is Summer a Good Time to Sell a Home in D-FW?

While it’s been warm (well, actually quite hot) for a while in North Texas, summer “officially” starts today. With sales prices up and few homes for sale, this summer offers homeowners ideal conditions to sell a home in Dallas-Fort Worth. Competition among buyers is heated and multiple offers are common.

Just how hot is the North Texas housing market? Consider that in the past 12 months:

* The average days a home is on the market is down 13.6% to only 38 days.

*  The median sales price is up 8.5%.

*  The number of homes for sale is also down 8.5%, meaning you’ll have less competition.

Simply put: If you’re considering listing your home, this summer offers an extraordinary opportunity. Find your Realtor at ebby.com.

As Seen in The Dallas Morning News

Steeped in Tradition, Poised for the Future

The following story appeared on the front page of the DFW Real Estate Finder section of The Dallas Morning News on Sunday, November 8:

Ebby Halliday Realtors is celebrating 70 years of serving North Texas’ residential real estate needs in 2015.

In 1945, Ebby Halliday founded her then one-woman, one-office firm based on three principles of service: service to the client, service to the industry and service to the community.

“For 70 years, our company has exemplified this simple, yet profound, mission,” says President & CEO Mary Frances Burleson. “Each of us at Ebby Halliday Realtors is extremely proud to be part of an organization that places service to others at the forefront of everything we do.”

Each year Ebby Halliday Realtors serves the residential real estate needs of more than 20,000 individuals and families moving to, from and within North Texas, always with the commitment of providing exemplary service during what can be one of life’s most-exciting, yet often stressful, events.

The company’s commitment to its industry is legendary: Ebby Halliday Realtors is the only real estate firm in America to be honored with three National Association of Realtors Distinguished Service Awards. The winners include Founder and philanthropist Ebby Halliday, who passed away September 8 at age 104, the late Posie Willess, and Ms. Burleson.

Ebby Halliday’s third principle, service to the community, has created a dynamic company culture whose philanthropic impact on North Texas cannot be overstated. The firm supports a plethora of community initiatives across North Texas. Just a few of those include the United Way, Vogel Alcove, the Dallas Symphony Orchestra’s DSO on the GO community concert series, the annual Dallas Children’s Health Holiday Parade, the Junior League, and the Plano Symphony Orchestra’s EncoreYouth program.

While Ebby Halliday Realtors is widely respected for its three pillars of service, the company and its Associates are also well known for offering clients the real estate industry’s most cutting-edge technology. Ebby.com and the Ebby Halliday Realtors App are benchmarks in the industry and offer homebuyers and sellers considerable advantages.

Ebby Halliday Realtors also offers clients the advantages of its affiliation with Leading Real Estate Companies of the World and its global luxury-marketing arm, Luxury Portfolio International. Ebby Halliday was a founding member of the LeadingRE network. By tapping into this worldwide network of 120,000 Associates, Ebby Halliday exposes homes to buyers on six continents. In addition, the company receives inbound clients who are interested in purchasing a home in North Texas. Last year the LeadingRE network was responsible for $314 billion in home sales – more than any national real estate brand.

“As the largest in-house relocation team in North Texas, we offer an exhaustive list of services, but the bottom line, in the relocation business, is it all comes down to the agents – having the right people in the right place,” Corporate Real Estate Services Director Karen Greene says. “At Ebby Halliday Realtors, we have a remarkable group of agents who are ready to serve you.”

Adds Chief Financial Officer Ron Burgert, “As we celebrate our company’s 70th anniversary, we thank our valued clients and our hard-working Associates and employees. As we look forward to the next 70 years, we’re more committed than ever to honor Ebby Halliday’s extraordinary legacy through exemplary service to our clients, industry and community.”
