Community Beer 1st Wednesdays: Tonight, as with the first Wednesday of every month, Community Beer Co. is holding an open house & tour. There will be local vendors, outdoor games, food trucks, and live music. The event is family and dog friendly.
Summer Vegetable Dinner: Chef Blaine of Grace in Fort Worth has prepared an astounding eight-course menu featuring summer produce. The menu is completely vegetarian and can be prepared for vegan diners as well. Dinner is Thursday, August 7 and begins with passed canapés at 6:30.
German Riesling, Sausage, and Kraftwerk Event: Friday, August 8, celebrate Germany’s World Cup win with a 4 wine German Riesling Vertical tasting, Kuby’s sausage, & music by Kraftwerk all night at Wine Poste.
Summer Harvest Dinner: This Friday is the last night to take part in Asador’s Summer Harvest Dinner Series. The final menu will be paired with cocktails and begins at 6:30.
Ramen Night at Windmill Lounge: Chef Justin Holt will prepare $5 bowls of everyone’s favorite noodle Saturday, August 9 for midnight ramen madness.
Beer Camp at Meddlesome Moth: Sierra Nevada Brewing Company Beer Camp will commence this Saturday at noon. Stop by for 12 craft beers presented by Sierra Nevada, Cigar City, Oskar Blues, Asheville Brewers, and many more.
Chefs at The Market: Saturday is the last day to learn first-hand from local chefs. This week’s guest is Chef T. J. Lengnick of Shinsei Restaurant. He’ll be schooling you on asian-inspired summer cuisine.
So & So’s: After a great start on McKinney Ave., this bar and dinner hangout will begin serving brunch this Sunday, August 10. Menu items include biscuits and gravy, blueberry pancakes, a fried egg BLT, their ever-popular pizza, and more.
Houndstooth Coffee: Henderson Ave. will have a new coffee shop beginning August 14 in the space previously occupied by Pearl Cup. Houndstooth Coffee, which originates in Austin, will have a to-go window right off the sidewalk.
Start: After much success at their first location on Greenville Ave, the “real fast food” restaurant and drive thru is set to open a second location on Lemmon Ave. this Fall.
Oddfellows: The Oak Cliff hot spot for brunch and coffee was recently named one of 10 restaurants in the U.S. that is worth “long lines” by Yahoo.
Big Tex Choice Awards: This year, fans have the chance to get a front row seat to the 10th annual Big Tex Choice Awards, the event that determines the fair’s food finalists.
Mattito’s: All four locations of this popular Tex-Mex spot have added a vegetarian-centric menu. Items include potato flautas, three-cheese enchiladas, mushroom enchiladas, grilled portabello fajitas, and a three-cheese chile relleno. The flautas, mushroom enchiladas, and portabello fajitas can also be prepared vegan.
Ziziki’s: After 20 years serving up great Greek food, the owners of Ziziki’s have added two new partners in an effort to expand and improve. The first change will come with the addition of a brunch menu that will be introduced next week. Old favorites, like the Greek gods platter, will also make a return.
Brick House Tavern + Tap: The craft-beer-serving, seasonal-meal-making tavern has opened its second D-FW area location in Fort Worth. Complete with hand-crafted cocktails ands 30 flat-screen TV’s, this is no ordinary sports bar. You can also visit the Plano location for the same great experience.
C-Señor: Bishop Arts is finally seeing movement in the old El Padrino location thanks to a new Cuban restaurant/Taco stand. Expect an authentic experience with menu items like the classic Cuban sandwich and fried plantains.
Chef news: Greenville Avenue favorite, Sundown at Granda, and Chef Patrick Stark have parted ways after six years. Stampede 66‘s Chef John Thompson has resigned to teach culinary arts at an inner city south Dallas high school. Souk, the Moroccan restaurant in Trinity Groves, is the new home of Standard Pour‘s Peja Kristic. Taking her place will be Casa Rubia Chef Cody Sharp.
The Donut Kitchen: The gourmet donut craze is spreading to McKinney. This family-owned gourmet donut, breakfast sandwich, and kolach shop has daily donut features like M&M, Carmel Macchiato, and Mango Habanero.
